PARSONPOXY SEL-80

A corrosion resistant epoxy coating to protect
concrete structures against H2S attack.

DESCRIPTION:
PARSONPOXY SEL-80 is a 100% solids, two component modified epoxy coating designed to be applied over brick, concrete or metal structures or as a topcoat over PARSON MH Liner or CA LINER 100. It provides excellent protection and abrasion resistance for concrete and steel sewage structures such as manholes, wet wells, digesters and clarifiers, along with mixer blades, shafts and other steel machinery components in contact with aggressive liquids. The product can be applied with brushes, rollers or single-component spray equipment.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Contains NO Flammable Solvents -100% solids

  • Apply to horizontal or vertical surfaces

  • Effective on interior and exterior surfaces

  • Apply to new and existing concrete or metal surfaces

  • Excellent Chemical resistance

SURFACE PREPERATION: PARSONPOXY SEL-80 may be applied as an integral corrosion barrier topcoat over PARSON MH LINER or CA LINER 100, or as a stand alone coating. When used as a topcoat, spray apply within 24 hours. If brushed or rolled, apply between 8 and 24 hours. If the recommended time frame is exceeded, one of the following procedures must be followed prior to coating application. (1) Reclean the structure using minimum 3500psi waterblast and dry using forced air. (2) Reclean the structure as in (1) and apply ½" of PARSON MH LINER or CA LINER 100. (3) Apply denatured alcohol using concrete brush and dry using forced air. When used as a stand alone coating, thoroughly clean and remove any loose or foreign materials including paints, dirt, oil, grease, surface coatings, laitance and any other bond inhibiting material, using minimum 3500psi waterblast. Stop all active leaks. (Please refer to our Manhole Rehabilitation Specifications for product selections). Repair holes, cracks, etc. with PARSON RPM patching material. Dry surfaces to be coated, using forced air if necessary, prior to application.

Steel – Surfaces should be sandblasted to “white metal” (SSPC-10) immediately before application of the protective coating. Remove all surface contaminants of oil, old coatings, waxes and other compounds that may be detrimental to adhesion.

SEL-80 displays excellent adhesion to most substrates; therefore, primers are not normally required.

MIXING: PARSONPOXY SEL-80 is supplied as a two component, premeasured kit. Mixing ratio is 3 Parts A to 1 Part B. Open both Part A and Part B containers. Mix each for approximately 2 minutes. Pour the entire contents of Part B container into Part A container. Mix for approximately 3-4 minutes, until thoroughly blended and a uniform color has been achieved.

APPLICATION: PARSONPOXY SEL-80 may be applied with brushes, rollers or single-component spray equipment approved by the coatings manufacturer. Apply to thicknesses of 80 mils per coat. If additional coats are required to achieve desired thickness, apply within 4 - 12 hours. Application temperature range is 40F - 110F, however optimum is 70F - 90F.

COVERAGE: Approximately 20 Sq. Ft./Gal. @ 80 mils.

CLEAN-UP: Clean equipment and tools immediately after use with MEK. Wash hands and skin areas with soap and warm water. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for additional information.

PACKAGING: 4-gallon units – (Components A & B) Each container shall be clearly marked with the product name and component designation ”A” or “B”.

STORAGE: Do not freeze. Store in area with temperatures between 50-90°F and with product on pallets. Shelf-life is three years in unopened containers stored as specified.
