PARSONPOXY SEL-80

A corrosion resistant epoxy coating to protect
concrete structures against H2S attack.

DESCRIPTION:
PARSONPOXY SEL-80 is a 100% solids, two-component modified epoxy coating which provides excellent protection to concrete and steel sewage structures such as manholes, digesters, clarifiers, settling tank troughs, sluiceways, filter beds, concrete tile and weirs. The product is also recommended for use on mixer blades, shafts and other steel machinery components in contact with aggressive water and sewage slurry liquids. The coating offers excellent abrasion resistance against sand and grit and also provides protection against mild acids, alkalis, oils, grease, sodium and calcium chloride and many other contaminants. The product can be applied with brushes, rollers or single pot airless spray equipment.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Contains NO Flammable Solvents -100% solids

  • Apply to horizontal or vertical surfaces

  • Effective on interior and exterior surfaces

  • Apply to new and existing brick, concrete or metal surfaces

  • Excellent Chemical and Solvent resistance

SURFACE PREPERATION: PARSONPOXY SEL-80 is designed to be applied as a corrosion barrier topcoat over PARSON MH LINER or CA LINER 100. Application can be performed within one to two hours, but must be completed within 24 hours of application of PARSON MH LINER or CA LINER 100. This unique method of application can dramatically enhance the bond strength between the two materials and virtually eliminate the probability of contamination of the PARSON MH LINER or CA LINER 100 prior to application of the PARSONPOXY SEL-80.

Existing Concrete – The surface must be SSD (Saturated Surface Dry) and free of old coatings, oils, grease, waxes, algae, rubber deposits and other contaminants detrimental to adhesion. Spalls, chuckholes or cracks should be repaired with PARSON MH LINER or CA LINER 100. Concrete surfaces can generally be prepared by low- (3,500-5,000 psi) to high- (>5,000 psi) pressure water cleaning, abrasive blasting, shot blasting or a combination of acid etching and water cleaning to achieve a 2 mil. profile.

Steel – Surfaces should be sandblasted to “white metal”
(SSPC-10) immediately before application of the protective coating. Remove all surface contaminants of oil, old coatings, waxes and other compounds that may be detrimental to adhesion.

No priming is required unless it is necessary to fill voids after sandblasting. PARSONPOXY SEL-80 displays excellent adhesion to most substrates; therefore, primers are not normally required.

MIXING: Thorough mixing is essential. PARSONPOXY SEL-80 is supplied as a two-component system. Open component “B” and pour entire contents into component “A” container. Agitate with low-speed power mixer (200-300 RPM) until thoroughly blended (an even off-white color develops). Mixing time is approximately 5 minutes. Mixing ratio is 3:1 by volume.

APPLICATION: PARSONPOXY SEL-80 may be applied with brushes, rollers or spray equipment. Apply to a thickness up to 80 mils per coat. Allow first coat to become tack-free before applying additional coats. Apply only between 40°F and 110°F. Preheating product may not be required. Optimum application temperature range is 70º - 90ºF. For application in colder temperatures, mix material 4 – 5 minutes, then let stand for 5 – 7 minutes prior to application. For warmer temperatures, mix material 4 – 5 minutes and apply immediately. Preheating product to 85ºF is required if ambient temp erature is below 50ºF. Mix 4-5 minutes and apply immediately.

COVERAGE: Approximately 20 Sq. Ft./Gal. @ 80 mils.

CLEAN-UP: Clean equipment and tools immediately after use with MEK or Xylene. Wash hands and skin areas with soap and warm water. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

PACKAGING: 4-gallon units – (Components A & B) Each container shall be clearly marked with the product name and component designation ”A” or “B”.

STORAGE: Do not freeze. Store in area with temperatures between 50-90°F and with product on pallets. Shelf-life is three years in unopened containers stored as specified.
